Overview

JetChat is a learning platform for pilots. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to jetchat.io and the JetChat service.

The summary above covers the essentials in plain language. The sections below are the full detail. If anything here is unclear, email us at privacy@jetchat.io and we will explain it.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways.

  • Information you give us. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and the password you set. Beyond that, we collect whatever you choose to enter — for example, a phone number, your interests, your ratings, or the aircraft you've flown. We also store the content you create — the questions you ask the AI assistant, your community posts and replies, and any notes or files you upload.
  • Information we collect automatically. To keep the service running and improve it, we record how you use JetChat — features used and pages viewed — along with technical details such as your browser, device type, IP address, and timestamps.
  • Cookies the site needs to function. We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. See Cookies and Similar Technologies below.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the service — run your account, answer your questions, power the community, and keep your study progress available across your devices.
  • Improve JetChat — understand what works, fix problems, refine our content, and build features pilots actually need.
  • Communicate with you — send account and service messages such as security alerts and important changes. We send product or marketing emails only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We never add you to a list automatically.
  • Keep everyone safe — protect JetChat and its members against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and meet our legal obligations.

The AI Assistant and Your Data

JetChat's assistant is trained on real aviation regulations and reference material. We also use user-generated content — such as questions and community posts — to improve it, but only after that content has been deidentified, meaning we strip out the details that tie it back to you. We do not train models on your private conversations in a form that identifies you without your explicit consent.

When you ask the assistant a question, the text of that question is processed to generate an answer and is stored so you can return to it later. To produce the answer, we send your input to the third-party large-language-model providers that power the assistant, such as Google or Anthropic. Before your input leaves JetChat, we remove information that could identify you.

These providers process your input only to return a response and are contractually restricted from using it to train their own models. Each provider sets its own data-retention terms, and their zero-data-retention policies differ from one to the next — some hold inputs briefly to monitor for abuse, others retain nothing at all.

A small number of conversations may be reviewed by our team to check answer quality and safety. When that happens, we remove information that identifies you wherever we can.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We only use cookies that the site needs to function — to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and provide basic security. We do not use tracking, advertising, or cross-site cookies, on this site or in any product we sell or partner with.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of JetChat from working properly.

How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers. We share data with the companies that help us operate JetChat — such as hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and the AI providers described above — and only as far as they need it to do their job for us, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Community visibility. Anything you post in the community is visible to other JetChat members. Your profile name and contributions are public within the service; your email and account details are not.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of JetChat, our members, or the public.

We Do Not Sell Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have no advertising business and no plans to build one.

Payments

If you make a payment to JetChat, your payment information is sent to a trusted third-party payment processor that handles the transaction.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as you have a JetChat account; we don't delete it on a set schedule. You can delete your content or your whole account at any time, or ask us to delete your data — when you do, we remove it, except where we are required to keep it longer for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Deidentified and aggregated information — including content used to improve our AI — may be kept after deletion, because it no longer identifies you.

Data Security

We protect your information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and limits on who can access it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

Your Rights and Choices

You can access and update most of your information directly in your account settings. To remove your data, you delete your entire account — it's all or nothing, not piece by piece — and you can do that at any time.

Depending on where you live — for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California — you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these requests as the law requires and will never charge you or deny you service for exercising them.

Children's Privacy

JetChat is intended for pilots and aviation professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

JetChat operates from the United States, and the providers that help us run the service may process data in other countries. If you use JetChat from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and elsewhere. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data when it crosses borders.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as JetChat evolves or as the law changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of the full policy and, for significant changes, let you know directly before they take effect.
