Wizz Air expects full recovery from GTF groundings by 2027
Central European budget carrier Wizz Air projects that its entire fleet of Airbus A320neo-family aircraft will be back in the sky by the end of 2027, closing out years of Pratt and Whitney GTF engine-related groundings. The airline saw its idle fleet drop from 41 aircraft last year down to 27 this past June, with further reductions expected into next spring. For aspiring airline pilots, this operational recovery points toward stabilized fleet utilization and a potentially steady resumption of aggressive hiring across major Airbus operators.
